Proms, Grads, DUI's
Back when Radio pretended to care about it's listeners, we would do community based campaigns that addressed issues specific to the station's audience.
One of the biggest promotions I ever was a part of was Project Graduation which was an all night grad party, lock-in dealie at a theme park for 14,000 graduates. They would go directly from their ceremonies by bus to the place and spend all night riding rides and watching a concert put on by the station. It was huge and about 10 months of effort went into it.
Kiss in Boise does better community "stuff" than pretty much any CHR I can name. And are #1 in the market. For New Years, Lucky from the airstaff went and got himself arrested in a faux DUI event. It was coordinated through the local PD and was meant to try and highlight what happens when you don't get a designated driver.

Proms and graduations are very popular nights to take large gasoline powered machines and drive them at high rates of speed into inanimate objects. Which is why, regularly, schools will go out and do demonstrations with smashed cars to try and scare some sense into the kids.
A video version of "Please God, I'm Only 17" would be amazingly powerful. http://www.snopes.com/glurge/only17.asp
